Week 2
My second week at King Chavez my master teacher and I decided that I should continue with observation and help individual students when they needed help. This week I really started to pick up the students daily routine. The students usually start with a warm up reviewing math/language arts from the previous day. Then they go into ELD, then Accelerated reading, then multiplication, then reading, then math, then ELA ( ELA usually always starts with a "Do Now" exercise done on Edmodo), then writing, and then PE or art. At the very end of the day, they go over their warm up from the morning as a class. I noticed a lot of the classroom lessons are done on the iPods. This class has a class set of iPods. The apps on the ipod that are commonly used are Splash math, Treasure Island, and Edmodo. I notice that the students are very engaged when they are using the ipods. However, sometimes the students misuse their iPods and do use them for noneduational purposes. I caught two students doing that this week. While I was helping a student with her math on her iPod, two boy students decided to use their ipod to take a picture of my butt. A student named Jakaiya reported this to me. I immediately told my master teacher. At recess, my master teacher and I made the two boys involved in the incident stay in and talk to us. When we asked, they
both admitted to taking the pictures with their ipods. We discussed with them
how that is misusing their ipods and misusing it for inappropriate purposes.
Then we explained to them that in life there are rules and when the rules are
broken, consequences are made. We made each student come up with a consequence
for himself. The boys seemed to have learned their lesson.
