After browsing through the Educational Inspiration playlist, I decided to watch this video first. I really enjoyed this video. First of all, this kid is adorable. Second of all, he really inspired me to keep believing in myself and chase my dreams. I felt like I really needed this kind of encouragement right now as I finish up all of my course work, final projects, and begin my hunt for a teaching job! Its an overwhelming and stressful time of the year. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed that I just want to give up but I know i've worked too hard to just give up! This video gave me some more motivation to keep going through these hard times so I can do what I've always wanted to do.. become a teacher! Thats the "awesome thing" i've decided I want to do so I'm going to do whatever it takes to get there! Who knew such inspiration could come from a 10 year old? Thanks kid!! With that attitude, I know he has a bright future ahead of him!
Second I choose to watch this video on Seth Godin and Tom Peter views about blogging. I choose to watch this video for two reasons. First, I choose to read Seth Godin's book "Stop Stealing Dreams" for my choice book and he opened my eyes to a whole different perspective on education so I was interested to see what he had to say about blogging. Second, I wanted to how he thinks blogging should be incorporated in the classroom. After watching this video, I was disappointed that neither of the speakers discussed ideas on how to incorporate blogging in the class. At least, I've learned several ways I could do this through the learning and technology class and I can always research more on this topic myself. I definitely agree with some of the points Godin and Peters make on blogging. Through my graduate program, many of my courses required blogging us to about certain topics and read our classmates blogs. I found this really helpful because it was a way to express myself and learn from others new knowledge/ideas. I definitely think blogging can be really powerful and educational tool.
Lastly, I choose to watch this video on a vision of students today. I didn't read the description of the video and assumed it was going to be about the vision of high school students or elementary student but I was wrong. This video was about how college students feel and the way students are educated in college. I could really relate to a lot of the points these students made in the video. Sadly, I feel that what they are saying is the true reality of many college students. I feel like many college classes take the form of lectures and its not engaging so many student tune out. Many assignments in college take the form of reading textbooks which is also not very engaging. I feel like these mode of teaching content need to change in order for students really learn material.
